Bizmetric- Databricks Partnership Learnings: Innovation, Data, and the Road Ahead

Jul 01, 2025

Over the past three years, we have evolved immensely, and it has been clear that no matter what we do, we do it better than others. As we reflect on our journey with modern data platforms, one truth stands clear that innovation is a necessity. Through our work with Databricks, we’ve realised that true innovation happens when tech solutions meet client satisfaction.

From a handful of platform implementations, we’ve evolved into one of Databricks’ most dynamic partners in the region. We’ve grown our certified talent pool (200+ certified and the number is growing), sharpened our capabilities across GenAI, real-time streaming, and Lakehouse governance, and built client relationships that go beyond individual projects.

Our success is not defined by the number of projects but by the outcomes we’ve helped deliver, faster decision-making and measurable value. It was the key reason for our winning the Databricks APJ Innovation Partner of the Year Award 2025.

Overcoming Foundational Challenges & How Bizmetric Evolved

When Bizmetric began its journey with Databricks 2.5 years ago, the potential was evident, but the path wasn’t simple. We entered a market that was still evolving, where many enterprises were either hesitant or unclear about the real value of migrating from siloed data systems to a unified Lakehouse architecture.

Despite this, our commitment to solving real problems remained constant. Every challenge became a chance to grow. A few key challenges defined those initial months:

  • Migration Expertise:
Many clients were using legacy systems, whether on-prem Hadoop or fragmented cloud environments. Convincing them to shift to a more modern, scalable Databricks-native ecosystem took both technical clarity and business value mapping. We ensured that we have resources with an adequate skillset.

  • Extensive Capability:
While our team had strong cloud and analytics foundations, we were just beginning to explore Databricks in depth. We started with Databricks certifications and now, we have 200+ certified resources. Building hands-on confidence across components like MLflow, Unity Catalog, and real-time streaming required rapid learning and deep collaboration, and we ensured that we had it all.

  • End-to-End Thinking:
Clients don’t just want dashboards. They want business-ready insights, automated pipelines, governed architectures, and production-grade ML, exactly what we’ve built our services around – real-time intelligence.

Key Learnings
We have worked on many projects in the past 2.5 years since we started our partnership with Databricks. Here are some of the most powerful lessons we’ve learned after providing solutions to giants across industries.

Learning #1: Architect for Scale, Not Just for Speed
It’s tempting to solve a problem quickly. But when you architect for scale, you enable the business to solve many future problems at once.

Recently, we worked on a global manufacturing enterprise that was struggling with issues like siloed operational data and inconsistent reporting. We implemented a Delta Lake-based medallion architecture on Databricks, transforming their ingestion model. With bronze-silver-gold layers in place, the enterprise now has highly scalable, real-time visibility into machine operations. It was not possible with their legacy setup.

The takeaway lesson from this case is that now we know every enterprise should look for a scalable system that is well-governed and future-proof.

Learning #2: MLOps is Not Optional
Many companies attempt AI initiatives without a structured lifecycle. This leads to high experimentation and low production.

For a large financial services firm, we deployed credit risk models across multiple environments while complying with governance policies. By leveraging Databricks’ MLflow and Feature Store, we enabled repeatable model training, versioning, and deployment workflows.

The result: a 40% reduction in model deployment time, all while adhering to strict regulatory requirements.

Without MLOps, machine learning is not able to offer real business value. We ensure every workflow is faster and safer.

Learning #3: Unifying Disparate Data
Another lesson we have from one of our retail clients. With the Databricks platform, we helped a company that was operating across 5,000+ stores and faced fragmented sales, inventory, and customer datasets across ERPs and CRMs.

Learning #4: Governance Is Your Competitive Advantage
The biggest lesson is keeping the governance on point. Many IT service providers ignore governance, which can cause problems with the projects later on. With growing data volumes and use cases, governance is a growth engine.

We’ve embedded Unity Catalog into several deployments, offering clients fine-grained access control, lineage tracking, and cross-workspace security.

In one case, this enabled a pharmaceutical client to accelerate R&D data sharing across countries, without breaching compliance boundaries. Our team ensures that your project is scalable and well-governed, no matter what you are using.

Our Databricks Lakehouse solution helped unify these sources, enriched by real-time transformations and integrated with Databricks SQL for self-service BI. The unified architecture enabled a 7% reduction in inventory carrying cost and improved seasonal forecasting by 18%.

What This Means for the Road Ahead

The road ahead is not about chasing every trend. It’s about creating systems where innovation is a top priority with scalability, security and governance in place.

What we have with our approach:

  • Proven Databricks accelerators for ERP data migration, real-time ingestion, and operational analytics
  • Hands-on expertise in Delta Lake, MLflow, Unity Catalog, and Databricks SQL
  • Successful execution of many Lakehouse projects and ERP-to-Lakehouse migrations across manufacturing, BFSI, Pharma, and retail

Choose Expertise & Databricks Award Winners for Your Project

We learn with every project and continue to refine our approach. As we move forward, our mission remains clear to “Innovate with intent”, that every project is executed with all the parameters it requires to be successful. We are also investing in our resources and planning to 2x the number of certified resources.

Our partnership with Databricks is just getting started and expanding our focus on GenAI-driven copilots for business users. With every new engagement, we are shaping what enterprise data transformation should look like. With this, we are helping Databricks to expand further and increase our client portfolio with a positive attitude of winning more key awards from our valued partner while working on more challenging projects.
